Today
(Jan 10th) we finished 30 min early in our assessment class and 15
min early in our literacy class! What did we do with the extra time out? Mostly
just walked around the shops near the church building and then waited for the
bus to come pick us up. But it was nice because in the time that we had gotten
from the bus stop to home, we had finished our homework on the bus…Which gave
us time to catch up on writing about our adventures thus far and to help our
host family with dinner and chores.
We had burgers and “chips” which is the
term for french fries. It was interesting to learn that when they buy chips,
they go to the store and they fry the chips for you and then wrap them up in
butcher paper for you to bring home and eat… I again neglected to get a photo,
but will get one next time. They were delicious chips though.
After dinner, Michael, Kirsten and I played
on the trampoline. On the way out we saw a huge black spider in the crack of
the door… we all asked Fredda to spry it with bug spray because we didn’t want
to get close to it.
On the trampoline we played old-time games like tricks,
bum/knee wars, and crack the egg as well as a new and interesting game called
“bacon strips”. It’s like crack the egg, except you lay on the trampoline and
hold onto the edge of it and people try to bounce around you until you let go
of the side of the trampoline. I think that was Michael’s favorite, but I would
beg to differ… ( and who thought that I was going to talk about actual bacon
strips when they read the title of the post eh?) Since Michael introduced a new
game to us, we introduced a new game to him by playing ninja. For those who
don’t know what ninja is, you all start off with a pose and people take turns
trying to ninja chop someone else’s arm. They have one swing and have to hold
the ending position. If they successfully hit the arm, then that person’s arm
is out, if they miss, then the next person goes until everyone but 1 person
gets their arms out. Anywho, this was a hit with Michael and we were even able
to get Fredda to play as well!
